Explosives Testing and Training Range

FLIR has established a 40-acre Explosives Testing andTraining Range for use in the development and testing of traceexplosives detection equipment and other military defense hardware.Areas of the Range have been designated for research concerning thefate and transport of explosive materials, new equipment testing andtraining. The FLIR Testing and Training Range includes a series ofquarantined bunkers to segregate the storage of a variety of explosivematerials to aid in the scientific testing of explosives detectionequipment, as well as qualitative training exercises.

The Test Range was set up and is overseen by a certified RangeOfficer, a former Marine EOD Technician with over twenty years ofexperience managing and handling explosive ordnance as well as theestablishment and maintenance of explosives testing facilities. FLIR hasimplemented standards that meet or exceed ATF security protocols. Theseefforts are designed to further enhance the capabilities and quality ofthe Fido Portable Explosives Detector and other homeland and militarysecurity equipment.

In addition, a number of FLIR personnel have in-theatre experienceadministering training and supporting detection operations utilizingthe Fido in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation EnduringFreedom. This experience in conjunction with the cumulative knowledgeof our subject matter experts and specialized scientists ensures thatall personnel utilizing the FLIR Explosives Testing and Training Rangereceive the highest quality support and guidance during training andresearch operations.
