ICx Technologies Delivers 198 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Kits for Deployment by U.S. Navy
ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced technology solutions for homeland and military security, announced today that it has completed delivery to Thermo Fisher of 198 identiFINDER™ Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) kits for deployment by the U.S. Navy. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The EOD kits are configured for explosives identification and provide two gamma/neutron detection systems that employ digital gamma spectrometers for radioactive gamma/X-ray isotopes. They come complete with check sources, carrying holsters, setup software/cables, and power adapters.
"As the men and women of the U.S. Navy continue to selflessly serve our nation, we are proud to provide products that help mitigate the risks inherent in their service," said Juergen Stein, president and CEO of ICx's radiation business unit based in Oak Ridge.
With its ability to rapidly locate, accurately measure, and precisely identify sources or contaminations from gamma radiation, the identiFINDER family of handheld, digital gamma spectrometer and dose rate measurement instruments allow users to locate a radioactive or nuclear source and, once found, identify the isotope(s) in an easy to use, three key (plus on/off) system. The identiFINDER combines high sensitivity with a wide dose rate range, performing gamma spectrometry and nuclide identification with performance that meets or exceeds ANSI N42.34 for radiation detection.
