U.S. Army Awards ICx Technologies $9.4 Million Contract as Lead Technology Integrator for the Joint Force Protection Advanced Security System (JFPASS)

WASHINGTON (Dec. 3, 2008) - ICx Technologies (NASDAQ: ICXT), a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, has been awarded a three-year, $9.4 million base contract by the U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center.

The award was presented as a single contract for systems engineering, analysis, and the integration of force-protection technologies into the JFPASS Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD).

ICx Technologies is the prime contractor but will be supported by a team of recognized subcontractors. In its lead technical role, ICx will be integrating some of its own sensor technologies along with numerous technologies from other manufacturers, covering perimeter-security detectors, CBRNE sensors and mobile sensors on manned and unmanned platforms such as UGVs. In addition to simple integration, ICx will also be developing sensor fusion and command-and-control logic-based algorithms to automate and speed up the link between the sensor information that comes in and the resulting emergency- and incident-response capabilities.

"The JFPASS JCTD program is a tremendously exciting opportunity for ICx," said Colin Cumming, chief technology officer of ICx. "JCTD programs are strategically important R&D efforts as they represent next-generation concepts and technologies," he continued. "In this case, we will be building the next generation force protection system for the Joint Forces utilizing our Cohesion IFTM product, along with a number of other technologies."

"A large part of our vision as a company has been to provide integrated solutions to our customers and, in the process, to bridge the gap between physical force protection and the CBRNE [chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear and explosives] sensor-based world," said Hans Kobler, chairman and CEO of ICx. "JFPASS is an opportunity for us demonstrate our capabilities and build this solution for the Department of Defense," he added.
