ICx Technologies Fido® PaxPoint™ System Selected by TSA to Detect Potentially Threatening Liquids at Airports
ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced technology solutions for homeland and military security, announced today that it was awarded a new contract with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the delivery of 200 Fido® PaxPointTM handheld detection systems.
PaxPoint is a hand-held detector used in airport environments that is capable of screening bottled liquids and detecting certain classes of potentially dangerous liquids and emanating vapors, even through sealed bottles and other containers.
"After recent security threats, we refocused our research efforts to develop a practical solution that could help minimize disruptions at airport screening stations due to the new and very real threat, and could ultimately save lives," said Hans Kobler, President of ICx Technologies. "The need for accurate and effective liquid detection at airports has never been greater and we look forward to working with TSA to provide technology that will add a crucial level of security to airport screening."
PaxPoint is easy to operate and rugged enough for sustained use in the field, making it ideal for use at airports, where numerous packages must be scanned quickly to ensure rapid passenger throughput.
