ICx Technologies Introduces ThreatSense™ Building Protection System

a Comprehensive CBRN Security Solution

WASHINGTON (Mar. 17, 2009) - ICx Technologies (NASDAQ: ICXT), a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, today announced the release of ThreatSenseTM, a comprehensive chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear (CBRN) security solution designed to improve time-to-detection, lower deployment costs and reduce false alarms.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has listed chemical, biological and radiological/nuclear (CBRN) security as a high priority for our nation's infrastructure protection. ThreatSense provides a comprehensive and layered approach to CBRN security by allowing facility managers to customize the system, and their own concept of operations (CONOPS), to best meet their evolving needs.

"With its a-la-carte detection-layering abilities ThreatSense allows security professionals to build out the best solution they see fit for a particular facility and set of threat scenarios," said Chuck Call, ThreatSense manager at ICx Technologies. "From chemical contaminants to biological agents to radioactive sources and dirty bombs-a broad range of threats are quickly identified with an extremely low level of false-positive or negative alarms."

The new, practical solution features a layered approach to facility security emphasizing the use of widely distributed, low-cost detectors combined with a smaller number of identifiers. Sensors are strategically placed, allowing for rapid detection that is independent from the location of the release. Radiation source identifiers are located at choke points in the traffic patterns, such as security checkpoints. Once a potential threat is detected, sensors quickly send an alert to the ThreatSense monitoring personnel via its command-and-control system, and confirmation testing as well as alarm adjudication begins.

ICx also develops and provides threat assessment evaluations and customized training for each customer's CONOPS and standard operating procedures, and re-certifies the training annually. In addition, ICx develops and implements protocols that will assist in distinguishing hoaxes from real events, thus preventing disruption while still protecting occupants and assets.
