Teaming up for Super Bowl security
John Stehr and the news team at the local NBC affiliate, WTHR, in Indianapolis took a close look at security during Super Bowl 46. Among the many security technologies in use up to and during the Super Bowl, included six SkyWatch towers lent by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol for crowd management. Airborne law enforcement officers were using FLIR imaging systems for day and night surveillance of the entire Super Bowl village with live video streaming to the centralized command center.
Also on hand were FLIR identiFINDERs, handheld radiation detectors capable of locating, classifying, and identifying suspect radioactive materials.
