Leading Technology Innovator Joins ICx Technologies
ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced technology solutions for homeland and military security, announced today that Dr. Wayne Bryden has joined the company as Vice President of Advanced Research, for ICx Detection. Bryden will leverage nearly three decades of experience in threat detection, research and systems development to oversee the company’s vision and leadership for building advanced solutions in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive detection.

Bryden most recently served as chief scientist of the Milton S. Eisenhower Research and Technology Development Center at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU-APL). Prior to this position, Bryden served four years as a program manager in the Special Projects/Strategic Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), where he was responsible for strategic planning, development, and management of ambitious research projects to detect and counter chemical, biological and explosive weapons. Bryden was honored with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service for his work with DARPA.
Before joining DARPA, Bryden spent 25 years with the JHU-APL in both research and teaching positions. As Principal Professional Staff Scientist and Program Manager, Bryden held full accountability for the conceptualization, design, development and management of a DARPA-funded biological agent detection system. His responsibilities included advanced material development and evaluation, biological agent marker development and testing, and biological mass spectrometry system development. As an adjunct faculty member in the G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering, he taught all levels of graduate courses in applied physics and applied biomedical engineering programs.
Bryden holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of more than 80 publications, holds five U.S. patents and has four additional patents pending. Bryden is a two-time recipient of the JHU-APL Inventor of the Year award.
