ICx Successfully Launches I-15 Reversible Lane Control System
ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced technology solutions, today announced the successful field test and system cutover of the I-15 reversible lane control system (RLCS). In association with Parsons Brinckerhoff, ICx has led the development and implementation of the RLCS for Caltrans D11 over the last 24 months. Managing a six mile section of the I-15 reversible lane system, the RLCS allows staff at the Caltrans D11 TMC to effectively manage and monitor daily directional transitions of the facility to accommodate peak traffic demands. ICx Transportation, a business unit of ICx Technologies, has provided project management under this contract.
When originally deployed over ten years ago, the Caltrans RLCS system was state-of-the-art, revolutionizing the application of electronics and software in the transportation operations arena. This replacement system once again places Caltrans at the forefront of transportation systems technology, with mainstream programmable logic controller technology and PC-based control and monitoring software.
"ICx delivered a state-of-the-art system to replace our existing RLCS," notes Shahin Sepassi, the Caltrans project manager. "We are very pleased with the results of this project and the management and technical expertise of the ICx team."
ICx Transportation celebrates their one year anniversary on June 1 of this year and will be demonstrating their capabilities at ITS America in Palm Springs, CA June 4-6, booth 204.
