ICx Wins Contract with the City of Seattle Department of Transportation for Intelligent Transportation System Services
ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced technology solutions, today announced that they have been awarded a two-year contract to provide open-ended consulting support to the City of Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) in support of their leading-edge intelligent transportation systems (ITS) program. ICx Transportation, a business unit of ICx Technologies, will provide project management under this contract.
The City of Seattle has long been a leader in deploying ITS in the urban environment. Current plans call for enhancing transportation management capabilities by implementing advanced parking management systems and a traveler information system that will feature arterial congestion information via the Internet.
"SDOT is highly motivated to provide the public with services and information to minimize individual delay and enhance quality of life in Seattle," notes Erin Ehlinger, the ICx project manager. "We are very pleased to support their mission."
ICx works with a number of other state, local and regional transportation agencies, including Caltrans, SANDAG and the MTC of San Francisco and will soon support the Hawaii DOT on Oahu. This win further underlines the ICx capability to deploy, manage and integrate complex systems and sensor networks in both security and transportation applications.
ICx Transportation celebrates their one year anniversary on June 1 of this year and will be demonstrating their capabilities at ITS America in Palm Springs, CA June 4-6, booth 204.
