ICx Technologies to Deliver Mobile Surveillance Towers to the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARCENT)

Towers will Support Force Protection in High-Risk Areas

ICx New Heights, a business unit of ICx Technologies, has been awarded a contract by the United States Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARCENT) to deliver 15 Sky Watch Frontier manned mobile surveillance towers. The towers, outfitted with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Level IV ballistic armor rating option, are currently being built and will be deployed by MARCENT for force protection in Iraq and other high-risk areas.

Sky Watch Frontier supports full command and control capabilities and is equipped with an array of high-level surveillance, monitoring and communications systems and technologies. The unit provides a 360 degree view of incoming threats from a height of 25 feet, extending the field of vision above a second-story roofline.

Marines stationed in high risk areas such as Iraq must be afforded the best solutions and most advanced technologies for monitoring and deterring incoming threats. The Sky Watch units are easily set up and moved from one location to the next, and will enhance the safety of Marine forces on the ground, enabling them to quickly identify and react to inbound threats.

With 100 gallon fuel capacity, the Sky Watch Frontier generator enables a run time of 120 hours straight and the NIJ Level IV ballistic option resists 7.62 armor piercing rounds, providing top protection and sustainability for surveillance personnel. Sky Watchâ??s dual-axle trailer and run-flat tires ensure dependable deployment on expeditionary and high-level security missions. Roof-mounted spotlights help maintain the field of vision beyond daylight hours.

"The Marines routinely carry out some of our nation's most demanding defense and counter-terror operations," said Adam Strange, CEO of ICx New Heights. "We're pleased that our Sky Watch mobile surveillance towers will be used to support them in future high-risk missions."

Vantage point is a critical component of surveillance and force protection. Sky Watch units provide a high-level platform for a broad field of vision and features to ensure the safety and comfort of the operator. With Sky Watch, one officer can cover an area that previously required three or more personnel. Each unit is rugged and portable, deployable by just one person in even the most primitive off-road conditions. The advanced ballistic options of Sky Watch Frontier further ensure personnel protection.
