Rodney Slater Joins ICx Board of Directors

ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced security technology, announced today that Former Transportation Secretary Rodney E. Slater has been elected to its Board of Directors.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation from 1997 until 2001, Rodney Slater directed the 60,000-person Department that oversees the operations and security of highways, air transportation, railroads, and maritime facilities. From 1993 to 1997, as Federal Highway Administrator, he oversaw the 160,000 miles of road and connectors that are the backbone of America's inter-modal transportation system.

"Rod Slater knows the people, technology, and infrastructure that move America," said Hans Kobler, CEO of ICx Technologies. "The bridges he has built span federal agencies, state and local governments, and the public and private sectors." During his government tenure, Mr. Kobler noted, Secretary Slater strengthened the federal government's commitment to Intelligent Transportation Systems, and coordinated effective, widely commended responses to the 1993 Midwest flooding, the 1994 Northridge Earthquake in California, and numerous other natural disasters. "ICx will greatly benefit from Secretary Slaters bipartisan, collaborative, inclusive approach to problem solving, and his excellent relationships with the White House, Congress, and business, labor and political leaders worldwide. Rod Slater has a record of crafting strategic, results-oriented solutions that the country needs, and that ICx can deliver."

Before joining the Clinton Administration, Secretary Slater served as a member, and then chairman, of the Arkansas State Highway Commission. He is currently a partner of the Patton Boggs, LLC, law firm, and a partner of James Lee Witt Associates, a crisis and emergency management consulting firm based in Washington, DC.

Secretary Slater and is wife Cassandra are the parents of a daughter. He was a scholar-athlete at Eastern Michigan University, and earned a law degree at the University of Arkansas.
