ICx Technologies Announces David W. Cullin Appointed Senior Vice President, Technology Transition

ICx Technologies announced today that David W. Cullin has been appointed Senior Vice President for Technology Transition.  Dr. Cullin will help ICx assess the needs of its military and commercial customers, evaluate technical options for meeting those needs and help ICx commercialize its technologies.

"Dr. Cullin brings both technical expertise and government experience to our detection group," said Hans Kobler, CEO of ICx Technologies.  "He understands the threats, knows the technology and has worked with key customers."

For seven years prior to joining ICx, Dr. Cullin served in the Department of Defense Chemical and Biological Defense Program.  As the Director of Technology at the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense, Dr. Cullin focused on new technology that would help the Armed Forces counter weapons of mass destruction.  Prior to that, Dr. Cullin lead the technology development of what is now the DoD Portal Shield.   The U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy describes the Portal Shield as a "sensor system developed to provide early and definitive warning of biological threats for high-value, fixed-site assets, such as air bases and port facilities."  The Portal Shield has since been deployed in support of several military and civilian operations and is now available "to protect civilians in highly populated cities and during large events."

Dr. Cullin joined the DoD in 1991, as a Research Chemist with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA.   He went on to direct the DoD Critical Reagents Program.   He earned a B.S. degree in chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1984 and Masters and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from Ohio State University in 1988 and 1991.   He was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
