ICX WINS $15.6 MILLION CONTRACT FOR INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

ICx Transportation, Arlington, Va., a business unit of ICx Technologies, has announced that it will manage the technology portion of a multi-million-dollar "Bus Rapid Transit" transportation upgrade project administered by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) in California.
The ICx contract includes installation of a real- time, bus-arrival passenger information system, preliminary design of a signal priority system and signal system enhancements to improve arterial operations. Arrival information for busses will be enhanced with distribution via phone and web-based technologies. The new BRT system will be branded distinctively from OCTA's fixed-route bus system, and will be called "Bravo!" with service on the first of three initial lines to roll out in summer 2009. ICx's work on this contract began in June and will run through 2012.
