ICX Technologies wins $15.6M Transportation Project

ICX Technologies Inc. won a $15.6 million contract through 2012 to manage the technology behind a transportation upgrade project in Orange County, Calif.

The project is the first implementation of Bus Rapid Transit as part of Orange County Transportation Authority's multi-billion dollar program to enhance transportation in the county.

ICx Transportation, the business unit of Arlington-based ICX Technologies, will provide a real-time, bus-arrival passenger information system and signal system enhancements to improve the flow of large volumes of traffic between urban areas.

Service will roll out next summer on the first of three initial lines on the new bus system called Bravo!.

Last year, the company won a $1.57 million contract to help boost technology along San Diego's Interstate 15 four-lane car pool lane so it can manage traffic flow.

ICX Technologies (NASDAQ:ICXT), a developer and integrator of advanced sensor technologies, went public last November and acquired Reisterstown, Md.-based S3I LLC for $5.3 million last month. ICX reported gross profits of $15.9 million at the end of this year's first quarter, up by 37 percent from a year earlier.
