ICx Technologies Wins $1.57 Million Award for Providing Enhanced Transportation Systems for Major Corridor in San Diego

ICx Technologies (NASDAQ: ICXT), a developer of advanced technology solutions for homeland and military security, announced today that it has won a $1.57 million contract for expanding the Reversible Lane Control System (RLCS) on the Interstate 15 corridor in San Diego, Calif.

ICx Transportation, a business unit of ICx Technologies and developer of Intelligent Transportation Systems, will provide enhanced technologies for the expanded Managed Lanes section of the I-15 corridor, a four-lane car pool (HOV) facility occupying the freeway median along I-15 in San Diego –- allowing the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to dynamically adjust roadway capacity to match travel demands and emergency conditions.

ICx will include the integration of its Cameleon Intelligent Traffic System, which is advanced control software for supporting lane control systems, dynamic message signs and video control capability. ICx will also handle the customization of roadway detection, closed-circuit television, electronic pop-up traffic control and roadway entry gates.

"ICx Transportation implements solutions for traffic management that provide safety and security in high-volume regions and emergency situations," said Hans Kobler, ICx CEO. "This win shows that our dual use surveillance solutions –- while ideal for homeland and military security applications –- are also highly effective for managing infrastructure needs."

The RLCS on I-15 was recently implemented to accommodate heavy traffic flow in the wake of the recent wild fires.

The ICx Transportation Group brings extensive transportation domain expertise in the areas of traffic engineering, transportation planning, systems and software engineering, development and implementation, security, and both project and program management. Through strategic consulting, ICx Transportation Group helps clients get the most out of existing and planned transportation management systems.
