VisionSense™ is a proprietary capability which allows the user to overlay the visible light (CCD) image and infrared image in real time. The user has complete control of the intensity of the overlay of each of the two images. This, in turn, provides an immediate, accurate and intuitive understanding of what the camera is capturing.
The advantage of using VisionSense is that the user can cover two wavelengths simultaneously. For example, an intruder might try and camouflage themselves by hiding in the woods. With the visible camera it wood be almost impossible to detect them. However if you adjust the VisionSense mix to include the infrared video, the intruder would light up like a light bulb and become very easy to detect.
One drawback to conventional FLIR technology is that it cannot penetrate glass windows or water; it only detects the surface temperature of an object, not what is behind it. But with VisionSense the user can utilize both wavelengths to see inside of vehicles or what might be lurking in the water.
Furthermore, VisionSense gives the user the ability not only detect an object, but to identify it as well. It can be a very powerful ally when trying to asses a situation and respond accordingly, when all you have are a few seconds make sure VisionSense is on your side.
